The popular ‘Old York Road Unplugged’ community street party returns on the afternoon of Sunday 5th June to celebrate live acoustic music, provide a family funday for local residents and visitors alike and showcase Old York Road’s impressive and diverse selection of independent businesses.
Led by Old York Road Traders, the seventh ‘Unplugged’ event will take place from 12noon to 6pm on Old York Road which will be closed to traffic for the day.
Bars, restaurants and cafes which line the street will be serving a fantastic range of food and drink throughout the day, including real cask ales and hog roast from The Alma pub, contemporary British food from Konnigans restaurant, speciality coffee and street food from CWTCH, and Caribbean street food from Ackee Tree. Other attractions include an eclectic mix of pop-up acoustic musicians, children’s activities and 30 stalls selling an array of arts, crafts, jewellery and clothing.
The event is sponsored by Young’s, Wandsworth Town Centre Partnership, Southside Shopping Centre and Wandsworth Council, with Runwild Media as media partners. It is supported by Konnigans, CWTCH, Ackee Tree, Brew, Chit Chaat Chai, MeatUp Grill, The Beer Boutique and Venture Studios Wandsworth.
On the day of the event Old York Road will be closed from 7am to 9pm from the junction with Morie Street to the junction with Homebase car park. Residents who need to use their vehicles during this period will be able to enter and exit the area via other adjoining roads. Barricades will be manned during the event and in the case of need the emergency services will be provided with access. Buses will be diverted via Swandon Way, while access to Wandsworth Town railway station will remain unaffected for pedestrians.
